Telephone Scam

Please be aware of a telephone scam that we have recently been made aware of in Hertfordshire.
The fraudsters will ring up and explain they are working with Hertfordshire Constabulary to compile a book of traders and service providers to be used by employees of Hertfordshire Constabulary. They say that for a fee (£150 quoted so far) you can have the details of your company or service published in this book.
This is fraudulent and no such arrangement exists with Hertfordshire Constabulary. If you receive such a call don’t be afraid to put the phone down and never give out any personal information such as your date of birth or bank details.
If you receive the call please terminate it and report it to the police on 101. Alternatively you can report a fraud using the online fraud reporting form at www.actionfraud.police.uk or you can make your report by telephoning 0300 123 2040.
Before using the phone again, to ensure it has been fully disconnected, phone a relative or friend first or wait at least 3 minutes otherwise you may simply be talking to the fraudster again.
