Residents are being warned to safeguard against distraction theft which has occurred recently in Rickmansworth.
In Rickmansworth library, schoolgirls were studying for exams when they were approached by males handing out leaflets. One of the girls had her mobile phone taken while they were doing this. The offenders were described as foreign with european accents.
In The Tree Public House on Uxbridge road males entered the pub waving £50 notes asking for cocktails. A mobile phone belonging to a customer was taken in the process. The offenders were described as foreign with european accent.
In Tesco, Harefield road, A man was approached by two women in the car park who had informed him that he had dropped a £10 note on the floor. The females were very insistent in giving it back to him.The males debit card was taken while they were doing this. The male had just paid for shopping using his debit card. It is thought that someone in the queue behind him would have seen him type his pin number in while paying at the till. With the card cleverly retrieved the offenders went on to draw cash from the victims account from a nearby atm. The offenders were described as foreign with european accents. ALWAYS COVER YOUR PIN WHEN PAYING FOR SHOPPING OR DRAWING MONEY FROM AN ATM.
NEVER LEAVE YOUR MOBILE PHONE IN VIEW IN A PUBLIC PLACE.
