Recent scams to be aware of:
Postal scams reporting that you have won money in a lottery and all you need to do is give your bank details to receive the money.
  • Phone scams saying that your computer has developed a virus and the person on the other end states they need to "fix" it for a small fee. This then turns out to be a program which stores all your bank details.
  • Email scams pretending to be from the government stating you have a tax rebate.

With this in mind please take the time to look at the government website about other scams to look out for and advice on how to deal with them.

Protectingyourself from Scams

We have recently seen a few rogue trading incidents where the elderly are targeted by unscrupulous traders and extort money from them for poor work or no work at all. Please have a look at the local trading standards advice for advice on how to deal with them too.
