Will #Rickmansworth's Cinnamon Square be Britain's Best Bakery?

Cinnamon Square, based in Church Street, Rickmansworth, will be appearing in series 2 of ITV’s Britain’s Best Bakery.

The programme which was filmed last summer both in Rickmansworth and on location sees Cinnamon Square compete for a place to represent the South East of England.

At the initial stages Cinnamon Square was amongst three bakeries that competed in the Home Counties round.  The bakeries were given three challenges to complete which included producing their signature bake, a bakers dozen and a wild card.  How they progressed and the bakes they produced will all be revealed over the coming weeks.

The two bakers representing Cinnamon Square were Master Baker and co-owner Paul Barker and Pastry Chef Hazel Carmichael.

“This was a phenomenal experience for us that tested all our baking skills, knowledge and creativity.  We participated last summer during the heat wave which really tested our stamina in an already pressurised environment” said Paul Barker.

Britain’s Best Bakery starts on Monday 6th January for 6 weeks.  The programme is on each day, Monday to Friday at 4pm on ITV1.

Emergency Works on Talbot Road

"The Environmental Agency have advised the Council that we are required to clear the culvert under the car park to prevent drainage and flooding issues in the future.  Access to the culvert is currently very limited, so part of these works will involve breaking out and securing long term access for cleaning.

The work will need to be carried out in 2 phases. Phase one requires 7 bays to be suspended from use, for a period of 5 days. Obviously, it is not an ideal time of year for a number of bays to be suspended from use, but we have been monitoring the water levels at the site for several weeks and it’s only now that water levels are low enough to enable the engineers to carry out the necessary works. We want to ensure that these works are complete before the worst of the winter weather sets in towards January.  Taking this into consideration along with the potential risk of flooding at the site, we would like to begin the first phase of the works this Monday 16th. "
